EXERCISE# 3
In the poem “ It’s a Woman’s World” by Eavan Boland there was allot of unclear words and lines. As I read through the poem carefully and began to break each stanza down as a class and on my own it was clearer of what the poem was about. In lines one through eight, it talks about how we have come long way from the way we use to sharpen a knife. How technology is getting better, and how life is changing with it. Life overall it taken a different route with all the new items because of technology but yet women don’t seem to change with time. In lines nine through eleven it talks about important days that women live, but in reality they don’t have much to look back at and see different then another women because they are all the same, their life’s don’t change. In lines twelve through twenty it talks about how women are not getting appreciated enough for all the things they do for us. Instead everyone views everything that women do as a obligation to them, something that is natural in the home aspect for women to wash, cook and pick up after us. We remember the little things they forget to do instead of all the times they have done it all for us. In lines twenty- one through twenty- three it says women will never be a chance taker, they will never put themselves in a situation that takes risks. Women will keep them selves in a safe zone instead of changing their own lives for a better life. In lines twenty-four through lines thirty-six it talks about how women are never there to witness of a part of anything in society because there life revolves all about being at home and making sure their role as a wife is getting done, So there fore as things are happening in the world they can not be blamed for it or questioned about it because women in reality are not part of society. In lines thirty-seven through forty it talks about how children are outside perhaps playing and when its dark outside there are able to see the light in their homes so that indicates them to go inside. In lines forty-one to through forty- four it talks about how women are not making history that’s to my believe, I really didn’t understand those lines. Women forget about themselves because they are more like a robot that does the same thing over and over that sometimes they need to be reassured there still human and beautiful, that’s how I interpreted lines forty-five to forty- six. In lines forty- seven through fifty-five is talking about a women she sees, that is looking up towards the sky. It was cold outside and she saw that air was coming out of her mouth but it wasn’t because she was a fire-eater or anyone special that took chances just her neighbor, another women that was a housewife like her.
